Two Football Players Sign Division I Scholarships

 CONGRATULATIONS TO DEVIN BENJAMIN (IDAHO STATE) AND JALEN ANGEL (UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO) ON SIGNING DIVISION 1 SCHOLARSHIPS ON FEBRUARY 1, 2012

 

#5-Devin Benjamin, a 6’3” wide receiver, will sign a national letter of intent and accept a full football scholarship to play at Idaho State University next fall. Devin is a two year Varsity member, two time first team All League player  and widely recognized as a top college prospect in the area after a Junior year campaign that saw him lead the team in receiving yards with 715, TD receptions with 8 and scoring with 76 points.  As a junior, Devin was named the team’s most outstanding offensive player, and finished his senior year with 26 catches, 444 yds, 5 receiving TDs, 2 interceptions and 1 punt return for a TD after an ankle injury limited him to only 7games.

 

#3-Jalen Angel, a 5’10” utility player will sign a commitment letter to play football at the University of San Diego.   As a sophomore Jalen was one of the first ever Sac High players to be named to the all Metro League team as a sophomore Linebacker.   That same season Jalen also won the Most Outstanding Student Athlete Award, given to the Sac High football player maintaining the highest GPA during Football season at a 3.9.  Jalen duplicated his All League feat last year as a Junior earning 1st Team all League honors as well as Honorable Mention All –Metro in the Sac Joaquin Section.  Furthermore, Jalen was voted Team Captain by his teammates 2 years in a row as a Junior and Senior.  Widely recognized as one of the top players in the Area, Jalen led the Dragons statistically on both sides of the ball his Senior year.  In 10 games Jalen lead the team in receptions with 62, yds receiving with 985, TD receptions with 12, Interceptions with 8, Fumble Recoveries with 6 and points with 86.  Jalen was named 1st Team All Metro in the Sacramento Area as a Strong Safety
